# Keep the password workflow separate

Env Vault handles .env files. Retain the existing Vault SKU and Vaultwarden self-host
password guide at https://vault.eliteaiempire.com/; this module does not replace it.
For password storage, browser autofill and account recovery, use that guide or Bitwarden.

Before a self-host install: choose a persistent data volume, TLS ingress, mail settings
and a tested encrypted backup/restore procedure. Disable public signup after approved
accounts are created. Keep the administrative token in the operator's secret store.
Update from a pinned release after testing restore. Do not import password exports into
Env Vault's public names-only tool. The SaaS terminal owns deployment and DNS.
